Gold medal winners
I just wanted to let you all know that the City Hall of Barcelona has awarded La Salle with the Gold Medal for Scientific Merit.
Valuable work in scientific and technical development, combined with the development of practical knowledge in the areas of engineering, architecture and business management were the reasons La Salle receive the honourable award. The decision to award La Salle with the gold medal was made by the City Council during their last plenary session, where they discussed to award gold medals to individuals and institutions that have worked in favour of the city for the past 50 years.
The gold medal is the highest award that can be obtained in terms of contribution to the city, and there are four different fields: sports, gastronomy, culture and science/technology. Within the field of sports, the City Council decided to give out a double gold medal, awarded to Enric Truñó Lagares and Juan Durá Riera for their involvement and promotion of sports in Barcelona. Within the gastronomic field, the gold medal was awarded to the restaurant Pitarra al Mèrit Cívic as recognition of the restaurants culinary quality and their 125 years of history in the city.
The cultural merit was given to Jordi Savall Bernadet for his contribution to the dissemination of “la música antiga” and for bringing Barcelona and Catalunya to the forefront of the worldwide music scene.
The directors of La Salle are pleased to see that the hard work of the researchers, staff and students within the campus community has been recognised, and wish to congratulate and thank everyone who has contributed
