The increase in demand for digital content, interactive experiences and creative technologies opens new challenges for professionals in the sector, who transform their skills to the needs of the market, thus adapting to the current industry.

Its new coordinator, Albert Barqué-Duran talks to us about the current situation and the need to incorporate this new training to the Art and Animation area of the Campus.

Digital art is no longer limited to a gallery; it expands to the web, social networks and immersive experiences. The intersection between art and technology thus redefines the conception of creating and experiencing contemporary art. 

For all these reasons, creativity and innovation are fundamental aspects in the field of digital arts and creative technologies. Professionals often embark on experimentation and seek unique solutions to creative and technological challenges. This mindset of constantly searching for new ideas and solutions drives the continued evolution of the industry.

At La Salle-URL we want to prepare students for their professional future; therefore, the new Master in Digital Arts and Creative Technologies is designed to provide students with the necessary skills that will allow them to excel in an extremely dynamic field.  

Albert Barqué-Duran, who has a long professional career in the industry, a PhD in cognitive sciences and has been involved in recent years in projects that fall between art, science and technology, becomes the new coordinator of the Master in Digital Arts and Creative Technologies

For a while I focused on Perception or manipulation of Perception in different audiovisual languages. At that time it was a very pioneering work entitled "My Artificial Muse" and it was one of the first examples of applying AI, Artificial Intelligence, to the visual realm."

Recently, he has participated with "Slowly Fading into Data" in Mutek MX, a music and digital art festival held annually in Mexico City -visiting the facilities of La Salle Mexico-. Presented in live A/V format, the project reflects on extended cognition, synthetic identities, and disembodiment, putting opposite technologies, such as 8bits with artificial intelligence, face to face.

His professional career in the field of research at renowned universities such as the Centre for Mathematical Neuroscience in London, Harvard and Oxford has allowed him to delve into the interactions between algorithms and human beings in artistic and creative processes, as well as in the evolution of our artistic practices within virtual environments. 

This new approach to the Master's is quite peculiar, because instead of focusing on standard or classical teaching methods, it is rather a path that both the students and the academic team are going to develop and go through during a whole year."

This new Master program focuses on collaboration, innovation and creativity through new technologies. Students will experience different media such as robotics, sound, AR/VR, digital environments, AI, game engines... putting them into practice through real projects in collaborative environments.  

This is not only aimed at the scientific community, but, on the contrary, also seeks opportunities in the cultural field, such as museums, art biennials or festivals linked to the field of New Media Arts."
