Rainy Days...

We all thought the summer was here to stay...the sun was shining, beach on our minds and cold beers in our hands. The unpredictable weather in Barcelona never seizes to surprise us. Yesterday I was tanning on my friend's roof terrace and today I am cuddled up with a glass of red wine, thai take-out and computer in my lap. So, I have decided to give a little insight on what to do in Barcelona on days like this.

  • CosmoCaixa
  • Aquarium
  • MareMagnum & Diagonal Mar Shopping
  • Metropolitan Gym & Spa
  • CCCB
  • MACBA

Lets begin at the top. CosmoCaixa, which has been around since September 2005, is Catalunya's new science museum. Right down the street from La Salle, you can see everything from the Amazon Forest, the Geological Wall, Planetarium, etc. The Barcelona Aquarium is supposed to be one of the best in Europe. I personally disagree. Valencia Aquarium is ten times better, however, it is a nice place to spend time on a rainy day. Located down by Port Vell next to the IMAX and MareMagnum. Shopping malls are not a very common sight. However, MareMagnum and Diagonal Mar shopping centers have something for every shopaholic. For those who are more interested in health and fitness, Metropolitan is the place to be. Located 3 places in Barcelona, you can enjoy every type of fitness (spinning, body pump, pilates) and spa, including a eucalyptus sauna. Pricey but worth it! For the culture orientated folks, CCCB and MACBA are always safe bets. The culture centre of Barcelona has a great exhibition of Catalunya as well as an African exhibition going on at the moment. Modern art is found at MACBA, both of which are located down in Raval area.  As we all know, our hardworking 4th year friends are finally done with the first hand-in of their thesis. As I have watched my roommate struggle through the last few tough weeks, I am very proud of them all. Good job guys!!
