I am currently employed at Harrods Department Store, which is known worldwide as one, if not the most luxurious department stores. I work as a clerk in the buying office of the stationary and gifts department responsible for placing orders, keeping stock updates (specifically luxury pens and personalized gifts) making sure orders are delivered on time, dealing with invoice matches and any kind of queries, and mainly maintaining a good relationship with our sales people on the shop floor and the vendors on the other side. For this position I am required to have good computer literacy, knowledge in retail, math, very good attention in details, organization, social skills and most of all to be passionate about it. At the moment Harrods employs 3500 people of the most diverse nationalities and highest skills, taking in to account that only 1 out of a 100 applications are successful. The company’s goal is to provide it’s customers with a unique shopping experience where they can find from the most classic items to the almost impossible and exotic, while enjoying live entertainments and excellent food adding a magic atmosphere to the place. At La Salle Universities- Barcelona, I had the opportunity to be kept up to date with the real business world thanks to the best teachers that not only were great teacher for theories and formulas but excellent professionals as well in their respective areas. The teaching method of La Salle including lots of practical projects and presentations have always kept the students fully involved in the subjects in a challenging but yet fun way, besides contributing to our presentation and social skills. The diversity in nationalities of the students and teachers at La Salle also gave me a broad understanding of different cultures and therefore the ability to work internationally. Today I can say that I had the most fun and amazing experience at La Salle and I am sure it was a great investment for my life!
